Three Points To Consider Before Training in Ayurveda

One of my first training in Ayurveda was given by Dr. Deepak Chopra in Lancaster near Boston in 1984.  I am a Chiropractor practicing since 1981.

Dr. Chopra along with a group of Medical doctors sponsored by MIU were doing a two week course on Introduction to Ayurveda only open to Medical Doctors and Chiropractors.

It was fascinating and fit right into my practice back home in Carmicheal, California. I was able to learn and apply the information in my practice quickly.

Its been near 30 years I have been studying, writing about, teaching and practicing Ayurveda. I never get tired of it, crazy but true.

Point One:

If you are an individual searching to empower yourself as a self-care expert Ayurvedic training is a tool you do not want to go on life's journey without.

One of my heroes is Dr. Vasant Lad, I considered to be "Father of Ayurveda" in the United States. He says in the following image:

POINT TWO

Self care training can be confusing especially if you don't get the big picture. Ayurveda is a practical, to the point system that can help you answer the questions:

  • What do I eat?
  • How do I decide what to eat?
  • How much sleep does my body need?
  • How much exercise do I need? What kind?
  • What does it mean to know my "body type"?
  • And so much more

POINT THREE

When you begin to learn and use Ayurveda as one of your self care tools don't get overwhelmed with the rich treasure of details that are the mosaic that makes the science of Ayurveda. Sift out the major principles on how the body works in relationship to age, season and body type first.
